The AvaLAN wireless Access Point (AP) employs a series of beep codes that provide audio feedback about its current status and operation mode. These audible indicators are specifically designed for use with the in-store AP model, offering valuable insights into the pairing process, software updates, and overall system behavior. A set demonstrating the Beeps described below is attached to this article.
Success Tone
The tone is emitted when the Access Point has been successfully
unlocked for pairing. This tone also indicates that the In Dispenser Unit
(IDSU) has successfully paired with the AP.
3x Beeps Repeating
After unlocking the AP for pairing, a series of 3 beeps followed by a pause will indicate that the Access Point has been unlocked and is now in a state of readiness, awaiting pairing with an IDSU.
2x Beeps Repeating
After inserting the IDSU pairing key, a series of 2 beeps followed by a pause signify that the AP has recognized the pairing key as valid and is attempting to establish a connection with the IDSU. This tone provides confirmation that the pairing process has been initiated.
Failure Tone
The tone is emitted when the Access Point fails to establish a
connection with the In Dispenser Unit (IDSU). This indication signifies that
either the IDSU is not powered on or its proximity to the AP is insufficient,
resulting in inadequate signal strength.
Version Chime
The Version Chime is triggered at boot or by inserting a USB device that is not the Access Point's pairing key. After waiting for approximately 20 seconds, the version chime will go off.
The Version Chime consists of:
For example, a chime consisting of 2 long beeps and 4 short beeps would signify that the Access Point's version is 2.4.
Site Survey Mode
The Site Survey Mode can be accessed by inserting a USB device into the Access Point that is not its pairing key. After waiting for approximately 40 seconds, the Access Point will enter this mode, indicated by a unique chime sound.
This chime consists of:
For instance, a Site Survey Mode chime consisting of 2 long beeps and 4 short beeps would signify that there are 4 connected IDSUs.
Cloud Update
Following successful cloud updating, the Access Point emits a series of distinctive beeps, conveying information about the update process. The chime will play the version Chime as described above.
After this initial sequence, the Access Point will emit 1 beep every minute for approximately 10 minutes, serving as a reminder that it has recently been cloud updated.
